TROPICAL STORM GUSTAV is expected to be strengthening to a hurricane as it passes over the Cayman Islands area tonight (Friday). The Blue Iguana captive facility is secured for the storm, thanks to a lot of work by our staff and volunteers over the last 2 days! Contingency arrangements are in place to ensure our international volunteers Luiza and Karen have a secure place to go in event the Boddentown volunteer accommodation needs to be evacuated, but this morning’s forecast suggests the storm may pass to the north of Grand Cayman, and we may get away with nothing more than tropical storm force winds. This has been rather an unpredictable system, though, so we are taking all precautions and playing things safe, for the blue iguanas and all those who care for them. -
