Students from St Ignatius School KG-Year 6 Kindergarten class held a ‘Dress in Blue’ day to raise money for the Cayman Blue Iguana Recovery Programme.
Parents of children were asked to pay $2 each to allow their children to be dressed in blue civilian clothes for the day instead of their regular school uniform.
In total over $500 was raised to sponsor a blue iguana, in the Cayman Islands Blue Recovery programme.
We have used the project to learn more about conservation, and teach the children to be more aware of their environment, teacher Margaret Gibson said.
“Later on we will be having a competition to name the iguana we have sponsored, and we will be getting plenty of information on it, so that we will be finding out about things the children can do to help Blue Iguanas live back in the wild,” she added.
